The boycott continues but has already succeeded in making a strong statement about the value of activists in the healthcare debate.  This is just the beginning of a new day for public involvement in political issues. Mackey’s board of directors are on him about what he did, mainly because of what the boycott has accomplished so far.  As a result of this boycott, John Mackey is no longer on the Board as Chairman  but he is still Chief Executive Officer in charge at Whole Foods

Mackey wrongly used his position at Whole Foods to push his own politics and Whole Foods cannot appropriately distance itself from this until it provides an equal platform for the opposing view point.  A suggestion for Whole Foods is to pay the Wall Street Journal to publish a short version of our rebuttal to Mackey’s op-ed along with links to the full version of our rebuttal and/or to advertise our rebuttal in the Wall Street Journal.  Whole Foods should pay to print both Mackey’s op-ed and our full rebuttal together in brochures to be made available in all their stores for as long as the healthcare debate continues.

Congratulations to all of you making a difference and keep boycotting – it’s working.  Join our Facebook Fan Page at facebook.com/WholeFoodsBoycott

I think Mackey thought nobody would notice his comments in the Wall Street Journal last summer. Boy, was he wrong. Now we need to boycott for-profit insurance companies and hold the nonprofits feet to the fire. This fight goes on until we get it right (or “left” in my book.)

I am still boycotting Whole Foods.Just becuse Mackey Stepped down as CEO.Does not mean he has left Whole Foods.I will never setp in a Whole Foods store ever again.

  3. Why would I go back to Whole Foods? I have found everything I got there cheaper somewhere else, and all local at our food CoOp and Vitamin Shoppe where the ppl are WAY more knowledgeable about supplements. Seriously so.

Very happy Mackey politicized his company forcing me not to shop there. BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED!

  4. the fact of the matter is that mackey had the facebook boycott in his face as well as union pressure to use qualified workers at a rate of pay that is amenable to the coomunity and regional standards as well as what would qualify as a rate of pay that would allow workers to shop at whole paycheck to begin with. here in portland oregon, many of the local unions networked against mackey once it was revealed that he had issues with OBAMA, unions and healthcare. he set the fire, and we supplied the fuel. great job, everyone!!

  5. I’m boycotting Whole Foods until Mackey is fired completely and until Whole Foods reverses the healthcare cuts for their employees that Mackey bragged about in his Murdoch Street Journal piece.

  6. I’m on a roll with my Food CoOp. I volunteer there 2 hours a week and submit special orders for NO MARKUP! THANK YOU MACKEY! Keep up the good work.
